Job Description
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7-8, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Traction Power Intern to join our team in the Philadelphia, PA office. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis of DC or AC traction power systems for railways, light rail transit (LRT), or other electrified transportation networks. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, gaining practical knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment. This position is available for this summer, as well as co-op opportunities through the school year. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Assist in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems. Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts. Perform calculations related to voltage drop, current flow, and power system performance. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents. Conduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activities. Assist in the testing and commissioning of traction power equipment. Support the maintenance and troubleshooting
