Senior Software Engineer, Agentic AI, AIR

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We are a team in the AI Innovation and Research (AIR) organization in Platforms and Devices (P&D), that focuses on developing Software Engineer (SWE) agents to revolutionize the way we develop software, significantly reducing the toil faced by developers within P&D (~25K) and all over the world (~6 million App developers and ~10 million web developers). The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Partner closely with Researchers and Product teams across Alphabet (DeepMind, Core, P&D teams) to build emerging AI capabilities and technologies for SWE Agents. Strong collaboration skills are a must! Work in startup mode. Identify developer pain points and develop novel user experiences to address issues. Ideate quickly and run experiments to improve agent quality. Collaborate closely with cross-functional/cross-product area (XFN/X-PA) partners to plan and prioritize projects. Cultivate a respectful, and collaborative team environment.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

5 years of experience with software development in Python. 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging). 1 year of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision). Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects. 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
