KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern to join our State & Local Tax practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist multi-state companies with property tax issues including compliance, consulting, planning and controversies

• Assist clients with business tax planning transactions and mergers and acquisitions including identifying and developing property tax issues and savings opportunities that arise from legal entity changes/transactions and in designing specific plans to help a business address its property tax matters; research and draft property tax technical memoranda

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and sustain excellent client relationships

• Analyze, prepare and review tax workpapers and returns and extensions

• Assist in reviewing notices of value and preparing recommendations for appeals

• Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI and more

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors and/or Masters in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, real estate, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program; preferred: Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting or Finance and Taxation

• Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements

• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above

• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred

• Strong in technical, business acumen, critical thinking and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment

• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI, MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights

• Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills, feedback oriented, and resourceful in delivering high quality work

• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation

• Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
