 Security Clearance Status: Not Required Collins Aerospace is seeking a Lead Test Technician within our Phoenix Worldwide Repair team. The Lead Test Tech will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the repair cell, driving on-time delivery (OTD) and turnaround time (TAT) requirements, supporting technicians, and supporting a productive team environment. This role is critical to ensuring operational excellence and alignment with organizational goals. Approximately 40% focused on lead activities, 20% dedicated to engineering and UWR support, and 40% engaged in direct labor tasks. External candidates will receive a sign-on bonus of $3,000.
What You Will Do
Lead daily cell operations by conducting morning Gemba activities, reviewing shift pass-downs, verifying team attendance, ensuring equipment and chemical readiness, and preparing key information for daily Tier 1 meetings. Coordinate daily production priorities and deliverables using MROLife and other operational systems; monitor WIP, establish Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs), manage the SHOP queue, and assign work to ensure customer and Turnaround Time (TAT) requirements are met. Lead Tier 1 meetings to review cell performance, prioritize work, address turnbacks and action items, review 5S and calibration requirements, and escalate issues to Tier 2 as appropriate. Participate in Tier 2 and other leadership meetings to communicate cell status, drive priorities and TAT requirements, and provide updates on escalations, actions, and operational performance. May support Tier 2, Tier 3, and Gemba meetings in the absence of the VSM or Senior VSM. Provide hands-on support to cell operations, performing direct labor and technician responsibilities as needed, troubleshooting operational issues, supporting production flow, and flexing across work assignments to maintain productivity and meet business commitments. Support engineering and UWR activities by obtaining and maintaining Rework Inspection Approver (UWR) certification, supporting engineering-related actions, and assisting with the resolution of technical and process issues. Configure and operate test equipment and test stands to test electronic units in accordance with established procedures; interpret and document test results and identify and isolate test equipment or unit failures. Troubleshoot electronic units to the sub-assembly and component level using diagnostic equipment, technical data, engineering drawings, schematics, and component maintenance manuals while applying knowledge of electronic circuitry and electrical components. Monitor and communicate production issues and escalations, collaborating with Value Stream and support teams to resolve WIP, quality, equipment, material, and process issues and ensure timely completion of cell priorities. Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment by identifying cell safety concerns, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, completing 5S activities, and driving corrective actions resulting from Management Safety Walk findings. Lead and support team members by supporting a positive work environment and addressing employee concerns, while leading by example. Support employee development and shift continuity by facilitating new-hire onboarding and training, providing ongoing coaching and support, and preparing thorough verbal and written shift pass-downs to ensure effective communication between shifts.
