About this role

Work hard, have fun, make history. That's what we do every day at Amazon. As a key member within Amazon's Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, the Occupancy Planner will own end-to-end space allocation and occupancy planning for their assigned area, driving results by managing complex programs across multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and tight timelines. The Occupancy Planner will take full ownership of aligning real estate strategy to business needs — proactively identifying gaps, driving solutions, and delivering outcomes without waiting for direction. This role requires strong program management discipline: structuring multi-workstream initiatives, managing dependencies and trade-offs, and delivering on commitments in a fast-paced environment where requirements shift rapidly. The Occupancy Planner will partner directly with business managers, GREF stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to develop data-driven recommendations regarding space allocation, occupancy scenarios, and migration plans that enable effective solutions in alignment with Amazon's workplace strategy. The ideal candidate demonstrates a bias for action — making high-quality decisions quickly with available data, taking calculated risks, and iterating rather than waiting for perfect information. They bring a strong stakeholder management capability: navigating conflicting needs across multiple business units, building trust through transparency and data, and influencing outcomes at varied levels of the organization. They approach planning with rigor — developing structured programs with clear milestones, tracking progress against metrics, and proactively mitigating risks. The candidate must be comfortable owning ambiguity, escalating appropriately, and delivering results even when operating in incomplete-information environments. Key job responsibilities Own space allocation and occupancy planning for assigned areas end-to-end — from data collection through recommendation delivery and implementation Drive the collection, verification, and analysis of headcount and space data (current capacity and future projections), proactively resolving discrepancies and ensuring planning accuracy Manage occupancy planning programs as structured initiatives with clear milestones, dependencies, decision points, and defined success metrics Act as the primary liaison between occupancy planning teams, GREF partners, and business units — building trust, gathering requirements, aligning competing priorities, and delivering recommendations stakeholders can act on Develop occupancy scenarios and migration plans, evaluating multiple options with quantified trade-offs to deliver data-driven recommendations that support real estate strategy and business goals Take ownership of defect resolution related to space allocation — identifying root causes, implementing fixes, and preventing recurrence Deliver reporting on occupancy metrics, space allocations, and portfolio-level data that enables leadership to make informed real estate decisions Identify and implement process improvements in move management, space planning, and occupancy operations — measuring impact and scaling what works Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple business units and organizational levels, navigating conflicting needs with a consultative, data-forward approach
