About this role
About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role
Summary Our Design and Standards team in Centralized Facilities shapes how our brand shows up physically - from retail spaces and workplaces to production facilities. We're looking for a Lead Creative Designer to own hands-on concept development for scalable prototypical standards and contribute to flagship and special projects that push our brand forward. In this role, you'll translate brand direction from our Creative Studio team into clear, executable designs while working closely with our Standards team, cross-functional partners, and external architects and engineers. You'll think deeply about design, move quickly through ambiguity, take ownership of quality, and explain design decisions in a way that lands with stakeholders. Your work will either become our standards playbook (deployed across dozens of locations) or showcase experiences that define our brand to customers and partners.
Responsibilities
Translate brand direction from Creative Studio into executable designs and lead concept design for new customer touchpoints, creating foundational standards that stay intact as we replicate them at scale. Own design development on select special projects and flagships, from programming through site feasibility, stakeholder workshops, and final documentation. Balance aesthetic, functional, operational, and financial needs by partnering with end users and cross-functional teams. Specify smart material and finish choices that are durable and sourceable. Collaborate with external architects and engineers to keep design intent intact through execution. Work side-by-side with internal Construction Managers to provide guidance, resolve on-site challenges, and participate in the Construction Administration phase. Create presentations that land with end users and leadership by weaving together vision, program, and customer experience. Partner with retail and marketing teams to provide creative direction for campaigns, seasonal store designs, and new product launches. Adapt quickly to shifting business needs and pivot prototypical design strategies effectively to maintain alignment with the company's growth trajectory.
Qualifications
6+ years of professional architecture or interior design experience with a concentration on scalable retail, commercial, or hospitality work. Degree in Architecture or Interior Design. Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Figma and modern 3D Spatial software. Strong Design development experience with FF&E experience, millwork detailing, and ability to present design narratives to executive level stakeholders. A solid understanding of aligning creative work with financial constraints, scalability, and operational feasibility, paired with the agility to thrive in a fast-paced environment characterized by rapid change, pivots, and tight deadlines. Ability to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week (up to 5 days encouraged) at the assigned location. Ability to travel occasionally to project sites, vendor facilities, and cross-functional workshops. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $156,200 for California based applicants and $114,100 to $142,600 for Georgia based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
