About this role
The Buyer is responsible for procurement activities of electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, and assemblies to support manufacturing of programmable power supplies in a high-mix environment. This role ensures materials are purchased and delivered on time to support production schedules while following company purchasing and supply chain procedures. Responsibilities
Place purchase orders for materials, components, and services required to support production and forecast demand. Monitor supplier delivery performance and follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery. Support negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms. Assist in cost reduction and inventory management initiatives. Work with internal teams to resolve material shortages and supply issues affecting production. Review MRP recommendations and convert requirements into purchase orders. Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information. Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, and Production teams to support material availability. Respond to daily shortage reports and take appropriate actions to minimize production interruptions. Process supplier returns, replacements, and corrective actions as needed. Assist Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier payment issues. Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to support operational objectives. Track and communicate supplier performance metrics and delivery commitments. Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures. Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing electronic components, metals, fabricated parts, or related materials preferred. Intermediate to advanced English communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience with MRP/ERP systems; Navision, Oracle, or ManMan experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. APICS, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications are a plus.
