Standard Job Description Instruct and supervise students during classroom, shop, laboratory and On-The-Job training as it pertains to the manufacturing, processing, inspecting, material handling, and maintaining of helicopters, parts, components and processes associated with helicopter assembly. Requires extensive knowledge of Sikorsky products, with a working knowledge of aircraft hydraulics, flight controls, structural assembly, electrical and fuel systems. Instruct employees in proper work methods, use of equipment, safety rules, and quality and quantity standards. Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instruct as required. Report to Supervisor on work progress, including conditions surrounding failures to meet quantity and quality standards. Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs for Sikorsky employees at field site, as well as, in house hourly employees. Obtain information needed to assist in preparation of training programs; prepares training materials; designs product demonstrations; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Assist in preparation of outlines of training subjects, including materials to be covered, points to be emphasized, and aids to be used. Maintain records of training activities as well as the progress of the students IAW (in accordance with) departmental and company procedures and FAA regulations. Conducts training sessions, product demonstrations, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Provide content development feedback as required. Sustain technical training curricula, and all associated record keeping documentation. Assist with revisions of lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. Determine and perform alternate means of assigned work when traditional methods or equipment are not available, obtain necessary approvals prior to implementing alternative methods. When not performing training duties, perform duties as assigned based on current loan language between the occupational groups in the current collective bargaining agreement. Perform operator checklist as required. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep. Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety. Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices. Refer only unusual conditions to supervisor. Basic Qualifications Requires well-rounded knowledge of operation and structure of helicopters, engines, accessories and hydraulic systems. Work from detailed blueprints and specifications and use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and gages. Knowledge of manufacturing and inspection practices. Familiar with sheet metal fabrication. Equivalent to two years high school plus two years trades training.
