For more information visit: www.syscolabs.lk The Opportunity We are seeking a motivated software developer to join our Private Cloud Platform Team as an Infrastructure Engineer. This role is centered on developing and maintaining existing automation tools (Java / Spring Boot / React / PostgreSQL), for infrastructure automation and reporting. Alongside development work, you will be trained on Nutanix and VMware virtualization platforms, progressively taking on operational support responsibilities as your platform knowledge grows. This is a hybrid dev-and-infrastructure role by design. In your first year, the majority of your time will be spent on development and automation. As you build competency on our virtualization platforms, your role will expand to include operational support. We're upfront about this because we want someone who's genuinely interested in growing into infrastructure and private cloud, not purely a development role. Responsibilities : Develop, maintain , and enhance existing automation platform (Java/Spring Boot backend, React/Tailwind frontend, PostgreSQL) Design and build automation workflows for infrastructure provisioning, reporting, and operational tooling Integrate automation platforms with other platforms APIs Write and maintain unit/integration tests; participate in code review and CI/CD practices Complete structured training on Nutanix AHV/Prism Central and VMware vSphere/vCenter, working toward relevant certification Progressively assist with VM lifecycle management, patching cycles, and routine platform maintenance under senior engineer supervision Support Windows Server and Linux OS environments as operational responsibilities grow Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture notes, SOPs, and KB articles Collaborate with senior infrastructure engineers, network, and security teams Participate in on-call support rotation once operationally capable, typically after 6 months of platform ramp-up (not a day-one requirement) Requirements: 2-3 years of professional software development experience Strong working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot Frontend development experience with React (Tailwind CSS a plus) Practical experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, queries, performance basics) Comfortable with Git-based workflows and CI/CD fundamentals Genuine interest in infrastructure, virtualization, and private cloud technologies Willingness to work toward Nutanix and/or VMware certification within the first year Certifications in Java/Spring, VMware, Nutanix, Linux, or Microsoft technologies are an advantage but not required at time of hire Exposure to Windows Server or Linux administration (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python) Prior exposure to virtualization concepts (any hypervisor) Familiarity with networking fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, routing) Awareness of automation tooling (Ansible, Terraform) and ITIL/change management practices
