About this role

Be Here. Be Great. Working for a leader in the insurance industry means opportunity for you. Great American Insurance Group's member companies are subsidiaries of American Financial Group. We combine a "small company" culture where your ideas will be heard with "big company" expertise to help you succeed. With over 30 specialty and property and casualty operations, there are always opportunities here to learn and grow. At Great American, we value and recognize the benefits derived when people with different backgrounds and experiences work together to achieve business results. Our goal is to create a workplace where all employees feel included, empowered, and enabled to perform at their best.
This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship. Great American is seeking a Recruiting Intern to join its Human Resources team. The Recruiting Intern will support key recruiting activities, assist with interview scheduling and video screens, and contribute to recruiting initiatives and events. This role provides hands-on exposure to talent acquisition processes while partnering with recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates throughout the hiring lifecycle. This hybrid internship is based in our downtown Cincinnati headquarters and is designed for a student who can work part-time during the fall and spring semesters, with the opportunity to transition to full-time hours during summer breaks. Interns are expected to work in the office Monday through Thursday when working full-time during the summer, consistent with the team's standard hybrid schedule. During the school year, we recognize the need for flexibility around academic commitments, but interns are expected to be onsite as much as possible based on their class schedules. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, highly organized, and interested in building a career in Human Resources or Talent Acquisition. We are looking for individuals who are available for an immediate start.

Responsibilities

Support a team of recruiters with day-to-day recruiting activities and talent acquisition initiatives. Schedule interviews and coordinate logistics between candidates, recruiters, and hiring managers. Review resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates for open positions. Maintain accurate candidate records and recruiting data within applicant tracking systems and reports. Assist with the planning and execution of recruiting events, career fairs, intern programs, and interview days. Communicate professionally with candidates throughout the recruiting process to ensure a positive experience. Support onboarding activities, including new hire orientation preparation and coordination. Conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications and interest. Partner with Human Resources team members on projects and administrative tasks that support business objectives. Contribute to process improvement efforts that enhance recruiting efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university; preference is given to sophomore and junior students who can commit to the internship through graduation. Available to work full-time (40 hours a week) during the summer and part-time (20-30 hours) during the academic year. Strong interest in Human Resources, recruiting, or talent acquisition. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize work effectively, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Leadership experience through academic, extracurricular, volunteer, or work-related activities preferred.
