Job Description

This multifaceted role combines technical expertise, full project lifecycle management, regulatory compliance, and mentorship to create meaningful impact for public-sector clients while developing the next generation of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Champion hydraulic and drainage design across the project portfolio, from municipal improvements to major highway systems. Develop engineering designs ranging from basic to highly complex, ensuring solutions meet client needs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Review, approve, and professionally seal completed designs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure adherence to firm standards, quality control procedures, and best engineering practices across all designs. Conduct site investigations and field reviews to validate designs against real-world conditions and project requirements. Adapt design criteria, calculations, and assumptions in response to changing project conditions. Support construction execution with field inspections of transportation and drainage infrastructure. Produce technical deliverables including hydraulic reports, drainage studies, design memoranda, and specialized analyses. Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge base by authoring white papers, technical guidance, and innovative design solutions. Present and publish technical papers and case studies in industry forums and peer-reviewed journals. Collaborate with sales and project development teams to support proposals and responses to RFPs, including technical approaches and design narratives. Participate in client meetings to understand current and future transportation and drainage design needs. Represent the firm at conferences, workshops, and industry events to enhance visibility and technical reputation. Mentor junior engineers, foster a culture of continuous learning, and develop the next generation of technical leaders. Review and oversee the work of junior engineers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality. Skills & Abilities Advanced proficiency with CADD software, including 3D/4D modeling capabilities and design-drafting best practices. Deep understanding of engineering design principles and applied practice. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for technical documentation and analysis. Strong communication skills, with ability to distill complex concepts for diverse audiences. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
