Registered Nurse (RN) - Part-Time Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility. Website: https://harborpointbhc.com/ The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Behavioral Health Center provides direct patient care to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use disorders. The RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care in a safe, compassionate, and therapeutic environment. This role focuses on stabilization, recovery support, and patient advocacy while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 07-18. Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures and the Nurse Practice Act. Qualifications • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing • Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multi- state license • Prefer experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. New Nurses will be considered. • Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations. • Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
