Location: San Jose, CA or Santa Clara,CA Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), in either a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term Duration: Spring/Summer Co-op : January 25, 2027 - August 13, 2027 Summer Internship:  Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027 Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - September 10, 2027 Summer/Fall Co-op : Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - December 10, 2027  Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - December 10, 2027 WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:   We are seeking a highly motivated Data Center Networking Engineering intern/co-op to join our team. In this role, you will: We will involve you in understanding AI/ML workloads, collective communication patterns, and cloud networking use cases, and applying those insights to develop realistic network traffic models. You will design and simulate networking algorithms and architectural models for large-scale cloud and AI/ML infrastructure networks. Your responsibilities will include identifying architecture, functionality, and performance challenges through simulation, analysis, and modeling. We will partner with you to evaluate performance versus complexity tradeoffs and explore networking solutions that can be incorporated into future AMD products. You will work closely with experienced engineers and receive mentorship while gaining hands-on exposure to data center and AI networking technologies.

WHO WE ARE

LOOKING FOR: Currently enrolled at a U.S.-based university pursuing a Ph.D. or advanced M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong background in network simulation frameworks such as ns-3 or OMNeT++ . Knowledge of networking architecture and algorithm design. Experience with P4 programming and programmable networking concepts. Interest in data center, cloud, or AI/ML networking technologies. Experience with software development tools and workflows, including debuggers, GitHub, source code control systems, and performance profilers is a plus.
