Meet the Team Millennium Externals Risk Controls team identifies, measures and reports on onboarding, pre-trade and post-trade controls across the firm. Our objective is to identify and mitigate potential risks arising from external managers trading activities and help protect the firm’s financial and operational well-being. Working closely with Risk Management, Compliance, Operations, Trading Services, Execution and Business Management, the team develops standards, policies and procedures for implementation across Millennium’s external trading groups. We also oversee the external managers trading limits and controls framework, helping ensure that trading activity is conducted in a safe, sound and controlled manner, in accordance with firm policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations. We are seeking a Risk Controls Manager based in Asia to serve as the regional subject-matter expert for all aspects of external managers risk controls. You will partner with regional execution teams and control functions of external groups to design, implement and maintain effective controls frameworks. You will also represent the Externals Risk Controls team in discussions with regional Business Management leaders, the Regional CEO, and APAC heads of Risk Management and Compliance. This role reports to the Global Head of Externals Risk Controls and requires strong judgment, stakeholder-management skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
Own regional responsibility for external managers risk controls, partnering with regional Execution teams and external trading groups to establish appropriate controls frameworks and address region-specific requirements. Serve as the regional subject-matter expert on external trading controls, including onboarding, pre-trade and post-trade risk management. Partner with the control functions of external trading groups to design and set trading limits, monitor adherence and manage exceptions. Coordinate control reviews, limit assessments and implementation requirements for the onboarding of external Portfolio Managers and third-party trading tools. Promote a clear and consistent understanding of the pre-trade and post-trade risk controls framework across external trading groups in the region. Develop and maintain controls dashboards to monitor performance against established controls, highlight emerging risks and identify remediation requirements. Review significant trading events, assess control implications and track the implementation of agreed remediation plans. Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of firm-wide standards, policies, procedures and governance for external trading activities. What You Bring 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in a trading, risk or controls role; experience supporting electronic trading is highly desirable. Strong product knowledge in one or more of the following asset classes: equities, futures, options or commodities. Demonstrated experience designing, implementing or overseeing trading limits, control frameworks and exception-management processes.
