About this role
Hologic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative breast screening and skeletal health products. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing transfer of mechanical systems and electro-mechanical medical devices that help improve patient care. This role is located in Newark, DE and will require onsite presence. What You’ll Do As a Mechanical Engineer , you will work with Product Owners, senior engineers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to help define, design, test, and improve mechanical components and systems. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting mechanical design activities for mammography, breast biopsy, bone densitometry, fluoroscan, and specimen radiography products. Creating 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings. Participating in design concept development, CAD design, documentation, component selection, prototype fabrication, implementation, and testing. Conducting feasibility studies and limited-scope testing on components, sub-assemblies, and complete units. Supporting prototype builds and helping ensure products conform to engineering and customer requirements. Assisting with verification and validation activities for sub-assemblies and complete units. Supporting continuous product improvement projects focused on quality, efficiency, and cost. Processing engineering change orders and related documentation through an electronic product data management system. Working closely with Manufacturing to help move final designs successfully into production. Ensuring design, drafting, and testing work aligns with applicable quality standards, FDA regulations, ISO requirements, and internal procedures. Managing a few concurrent projects under the supervision of senior engineers. Building strong collaborative relationships across the organization. Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a technical or engineering discipline. 0–2 years of experience with a non-technical degree, or 0–1 year of experience with a technical/advanced degree preferred.
Skills & Experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Strong attention to detail. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work well in a team environment and independently. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues. Takes initiative and is receptive to feedback. Good hands-on skills with the ability to build and evaluate what you design.
Beneficial Experience
SolidWorks 3D modeling and PDM. 2D drafting and CAD data management. Design for manufacturing principles, including machined and sheet metal parts. Root cause and root cause failure analysis methodologies. Experience working in FDA-regulated or ISO-controlled environments.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $65,000 - $102,000 and is bonus eligible.
