Senior Technical Program Manager

GitHub is seeking a passionate, driven, and collaborative Senior TPM to drive the GitHub Enterprise Servier (GHES) release process.  This includes OS and container builds across the platform, infrastructure, and application layers; package generation and certification; integration test environments; and distribution of release artifacts through Azure and other clouds. In this role, you will define operational priorities for the team, coordinate execution across a complex release surface, and partner across engineering organizations to ensure GHES ships as a high-quality, secure, and dependable appliance for enterprise customers.     You will partner with stakeholders to deliver solutions that strengthen our security posture and elevate service resiliency and quality. Additionally, you will coordinate with engineers across the organization to monitor progress, resolve blockers, and provide status updates to the leadership team.   Our team is small, efficient, and engineering-focused, thriving in a fast-paced environment. The Technical Program Manager Role encompasses a broad scope including:   Drive execution across build, package generation, validation, certification, and customer delivery workflows for GHES releases.   Establish and drive standards for release reliability, observability, compliance, and operational excellence across build, release, and certification workflows.   Set investment priorities for the GHES Release team, balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term improvements in reliability, efficiency, and engineering velocity.   Ensure strong operational ownership of release infrastructure, including clear accountability, effective incident response, and continuous improvement following critical issues.   Drive and deliver security and compliance requirements.   Negotiate requirements with the central teams (SMEs).   Understand best practices and available tooling to improve service resiliency and quality.   Influence and drive adoption of quality best practices and standards.   Drive onboarding to central infra services and, tooling.   Track various metrics across broad set of services.   Drive tooling and infra feature design and implementation.   Identify new opportunities and work with the central teams to supplement existing quality standards.   Deliver technical and high-level presentations in various forums.   Drive multiple projects at any given time.

Required Qualifications:  5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or in a technical role with systems experience.  3+ years of experience working in the Cloud domain.  3+ year of experience in management of complex cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects.

Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.  Good understanding of cloud services best practices.  Good understanding of cloud architecture, telemetry, and monitoring systems.  Experience with high-availability systems and services resiliency.  Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.  Proven ability to influence without authority and drive results across teams.  Negotiation skills to drive repair items/investments with engineering managers.
