The Principal Systems Engineer provides technical leadership for complex ENT system development programs. This role is responsible for defining system architecture, translating clinical and business needs into system requirements, and ensuring effective integration across hardware, software, firmware, and mechanical subsystems. The individual partners closely with cross‑functional teams including R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Operations to deliver safe, effective, and compliant medical device systems that support ENT surgical procedures. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Lead system architecture development for ENT capital equipment and associated instruments or accessories. Translate user needs and clinical workflow requirements into system‑level functional and performance requirements. Apply critical thinking to solve systems integration problems and make recommendations Utilize architecture design tools to develop and document system-level interactions. Develop and maintain system requirements and ensure traceability through verification and validation. Coordinate cross‑disciplinary integration across hardware, embedded software, firmware, and mechanical subsystems. Lead system‑level risk management activities including hazard analysis and FMEA in accordance with ISO 14971. Drive system design trade‑offs and technical decision making across engineering teams. Provide system traceability reports as needed throughout the design development phases. Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with design control requirements and applicable standards. Provide technical mentorship and systems engineering guidance to engineers across development programs. Must Have:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience Or advanced degree with 5 years of experience Or PhD with 3 years relevant experience.
Nice to Have
Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience developing regulated medical devices. Experience with surgical systems,
