About this role
Amazon is seeking a Data Migration and Release Lead to drive data migration, cutover, and release execution for a multi-year transformation of Amazon’s Finance ERP platform. This leader will work across Accounting, Finance, Product, Engineering, Solution Architecture, Internal Controls, SAP, and implementation partners to ensure financial data is accurately migrated and new capabilities are deployed in a controlled manner. This role will translate the ERP transformation strategy into an executable data migration and release plan spanning data extraction, transformation, cleansing, mapping, validation, reconciliation, cutover, deployment, and stabilization. The Data Migration and Release Lead will establish governance, define milestones and quality criteria, manage risks and dependencies, and coordinate execution across business and technology teams. The ideal candidate combines strong Finance ERP and accounting-data knowledge with experience delivering complex migration and release programs. They should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, identifying issues before they affect critical milestones, influencing stakeholders, and using data to drive decisions. This leader will be accountable for establishing repeatable mechanisms and ensuring migration and release activities satisfy Amazon’s controllership, financial reporting, security, and operational requirements. The role requires knowledge of financial master and transactional data, including charts of accounts, legal entities, ledgers, balances, open items, journals, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and other relevant financial information. Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle ERP, financial data migration, and large-scale enterprise releases is highly preferred. Key job responsibilities • Own the end-to-end data migration and release strategy, integrated plan, governance, and execution for the Finance ERP transformation. • Define the migration scope, sequencing, conversion approach, data-retention requirements, quality standards, and acceptance criteria. • Coordinate data profiling, extraction, mapping, transformation, cleansing, loading, validation, and reconciliation activities. • Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to establish business rules, ownership, sign-off requirements, and financial reconciliation controls. • Lead migration cycles and mock conversions, using results to improve data quality, performance, processes, and cutover readiness. • Establish metrics and reporting for data quality, conversion completeness, reconciliation status, defects, risks, and readiness. • Develop and maintain the integrated release and cutover plan, including business and technical dependencies, resource requirements, decision points, and contingency plans. • Coordinate release activities across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Testing, Business Readiness, Change Management, Security, Controls, and operations teams. • Lead cutover planning and execution, including command-center governance, status reporting, escalation mechanisms, rollback criteria, and stabilization activities. • Ensure data migration and release activities comply with accounting, audit, security, privacy, retention, and internal-control requirements. • Identify and resolve cross-functional risks and dependencies that could affect migration quality, release timing. • Create updates for senior leaders covering progress, risks, decisions, quality results, readiness, and required interventions. A day in the life You will work across Accounting and technology teams to plan and execute Finance ERP data migration and releases. Each day may include reviewing conversion results, resolving data-quality or reconciliation issues, coordinating dependencies, and assessing cutover readiness. You will partner with Accounting, Engineering, Testing, Controls, and implementation teams to drive decisions and maintain alignment. You will also monitor migration and release metrics, escalate
