A Day in the Life The Tool Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing innovative and reliable industrial solutions to support product transfer from R&D to Swiss Medtronic Operations (SMO) sites and to support operations at the high-volume facilities based in EMEA. The Tool engineer is responsible to create a wide variety of mechanical design from simple support to highly complex assemblies. The designed Toolings are used for the manufacturing of pacemakers and defibrillators in the same facility. Thus, the work of the tool engineer contributes to human welfare. This position reports to the Engineering Supervisor, part of the Mechanical Services team, in the Development Engineering department. The Mechanical Services team is composed with designers and mechanical technicians. The in-house machine shop allows dynamic interactions during the design phase. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Conceive, design, develop and update Tooling, Fixtures, and simple Equipment for the manufacturing of medical devices Provide Technical expertise Lead, coordinate or manage internal/external Project, or Work Package within Project Interface with project leaders, process engineers, product transfer leaders to ensure on time completion of assigned mechanical designs projects Follow-up the internal/external Mechanical Request Coordinate and follow-up the Drawings approval per established standards Communicate with internal/external stakeholders Create and follow up the external suppliers’ orders Establish and maintain the required documentation (drawings, specifications, procedures, user guide ...) Follow the established quality standards Be pro-active to answer customer needs Contribute and participate to a safety work environment, report any EHS risks and events (injuries, illness, and accidents). Understand and enforce all Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations Required Knowledge and Experience: Min imum 3 years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment Modelling machined part Drawing, dimensioning and tolerances according to ISO/ASME standards Exposure to manufacturing environment with High V olume Facilities constraints Creating assembly with mechanism connection Knowledge in: Metric and US Standard and units (ISO/ASME) GD&T standards or ISO GPS Material properties (Polymers, Metal, Ceramics) Fluent in French and in English Nice to Have : Min 1 year usage of PTC Creo Parametric and u se of PLM Windchill Experience in medical device or machine design is an asset Knowledge in regulated industries (FDA, ISO 13485) Good understanding of : Additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping Modelling sheet metal part Basic I njection molding parts design Directive CE machinery Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) or lean six sigma certification Physical Job Requirements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.
