About this role
Hundreds of millions of people open Amazon Music to find the artists they love, build playlists that follow them everywhere, and share what they are listening to. The Community & Fandom team owns those social and discovery surfaces, including playlists, artist detail pages, profiles, insights and fan culture features that ship across iOS, Android and Fire Tablet. We are hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer to help us change how quality gets built here. Our engineering org is moving fast on AI-assisted development, and code generation is no longer the constraint, validation is. That makes this role the leverage point for the entire team, not a downstream checkpoint. You will join at the moment we are doubling QA capacity and rebuilding our approach around automation, so the work you design in your first year becomes the way this org tests for years afterward. The bugs we care about most are the ones that are hard to find. A playlist that loses a track for one customer in fifty thousand, a race condition that only surfaces on a cold start over a slow network, a memory pattern that degrades after an hour of listening. Finding those before customers do takes engineering judgment, and that is the bar we hire against. Key job responsibilities - Own end to end test strategy for features on your surfaces, from test case design through automation coverage and release sign off. - Build and extend automated UI and integration test suites for Native and shared Kotlin and Compose Multiplatform code running on iOS and Android. - Work inside our weekly release train, covering branch cut regression, staged rollout validation, and the metrics review that gates dial up to full traffic. - Investigate low reproduction rate defects using logs, crash and memory telemetry, and weblab side by side comparisons, then turn each finding into a permanent regression test. - Make accessibility a standing part of feature validation rather than an audit that happens late. - Partner with our Quality Services team in India, contributing the documented test plans and environments they execute against, and reviewing their results as part of the daily handoff. - Bring AI-assisted testing into the workflow, using LLM tooling for test case generation, coverage gap analysis, and triage acceleration, and measure whether it actually helps. A day in the life You start by reading overnight regression results from the QS team and triaging what changed. A crash signature spiked on the Android beta, so you pull the telemetry, narrow it to a specific playlist size, and reproduce it locally in twenty minutes. You file it with a repro case clear enough that the owning engineer fixes it before lunch. In the afternoon you pair with two SDEs on a new fan culture feature that is a week from branch cut, walking their design for the states nobody thought about yet. You close the day extending the automated suite so the crash you found this morning never ships again.
About the team
Community & Fandom is a mobile and backend org inside Amazon Music Technology. Two of our QAEs are already based in Mexico City, so you will have local peers from day one, and our engineering teams sit in overlapping timezones for real time collaboration. We are growing QA team to help accelerate delivery. We see QA as an integral part of our development flow and we're actively moving to a more deeply integrated QA model.
