Construction Project Manager - Data Center Germany

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud.  Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The Microsoft portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. To help us achieve our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a Construction Project Manager for the Nordrhein-Westfalen Metro to work alongside the EPC in country to support with the construction project management of a new data centre construction project. The Construction Project Manager will support construction project management on the data centre alongside the Senior Construction Project manager to ensure the project meets Microsoft’s safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets. Relocation support may be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the specified location.  This role is a site-based role and is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Responsibilities: Budget and Controls - Monitors the approved project budget and provides oversight for project controls (e.g., Project Expenditure Request (PERs), Professional Services Request (PSRs), Change Orders, Pay Applications, etc.). Change Management - Partners with the Internal Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), and other Microsoft key stakeholders (e.g., Commercial Software Engineering [CSE] and Real Estate & Facilities [RE&F], etc.) and shares updated process flow information with the project team to ensure new processes are being followed that increase cost savings and improve overall cycle-time and efficiencies. Coordination - Attends and advises during scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings, advocating for safe and secure security-first mindset during project planning. Coordinates meetings and activities of vendors and cost managers, and attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings. Drives Results - Facilitates the delivery of local projects (e.g., new construction, infrastructure improvements) by making timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams and stakeholders. Champions team and project goals, adhering to business processes, engaging vendor relationships when/where applicable, and fostering cross-group collaboration efforts aligned to the project strategy, milestone delivery, and core values and priorities (Safety, Security, Quality, Schedule, Cost). Financial Acumen - Applies best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions to meet project delivery at each site location. Applies influence, strategies, and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions. Goal Alignment - Collaborates with internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Center for International Social Science Research [CISSR], Commercial Software Engineering [CSE], Legal, Project Controls, etc.) to maintain the corporate vision
