Job Description
Location: Polar Speed UPS, Site 2, Chartmoor Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 4WG Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week - 10am to 7pm Salary: £33k - £35k per annum - dependent on experience Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities: Smooth operation of the transport and warehouse hub activities. Site security whilst on shift. Ensure temperature-controlled areas remain within required temperature parameters. Ensure vehicle and site temperature alerts are monitored. Report any site repairs identified to the Senior Site Manager. Liaise with hub and depots as necessary to facilitate efficient network performance. Ensure timely despatch and debrief of inbound and outbound trunk vehicles. Manage sortation, load, and unload processes to reduce hub sort errors. Monitor scanning performance and ensure all orders are scanned to trunk vehicles. Manage quarantine and relabeling processes. Manage night trunk routes and ensure they are running on time as per the Network Schedule. Staff resource, absence and holiday management. Conducting interviews and compliance for all new recruits. Ensure all drivers including agency are trained and briefed in temperature management with necessary training paperwork completed and filed. Deal with staff issues, conducting investigations or disciplinaries where required. Conduct return to work interviews and accident investigations as required. Driving a vehicle route on ad hoc basis as and when required by the business. Specialized Knowledge and Requirements: Minimum Category B Drivers licence essential, with ideally no more than 3 points. Must have a good understanding of EU road transport rules and regulations. Good working knowledge of Polar Track, Masternaut, Verilocation, TruTc, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams. Good understanding of the network and industry and the impacts what we do as a business. Must appreciate the need for confidentiality. Must be able to build effective, professional working relationships. Must be to make effective and timely decisions and prioritize workload. Team player mentality with ability to influence others. Excellent communication and listening skills. Must be able to remain calm and effective in stressful and challenging situations Please note for successful candidates Polar Speed UPS will run a licence check, enhanced DBS check and 3 year referencing checks.
