Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer (Advanced Development) - Indianapolis, IN Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer (Advanced Development) The Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of embedded firmware solutions for electronic access control and security products. As a Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer, you will work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of more than 12,000 employees representing over 30 brands, including Schlage, Von Duprin, and LCN. You will gain hands-on experience defining and scoping firmware requirements, designing and documenting system architecture, developing and testing embedded software, and integrating firmware into larger modular systems. Additional responsibilities include learning about electronic locking systems and access control solutions, participating in design and code reviews, and contributing to innovative products that enable seamless access while helping keep people safe and secure where they work, live, and thrive. This role provides meaningful project work, learning opportunities, professional development, and the opportunity to build strong relationships with peers and leaders across the organization. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. What You Will Do

Expand your skills in programming and scripting languages, including C and Python. Gain hands-on experience in embedded software and firmware testing. Apply product development tools such as functional block, flow, and state diagrams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective solutions. Participate in daily standups, project meetings, and firmware team discussions. Build knowledge of basic electronics and laboratory tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. Develop a strong foundation for future growth and career opportunities at Allegion. What You Need to Succeed: Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated leadership through school, work, extracurricular activities, or project involvement. Coursework in C programming; intermediate proficiency preferred. Coursework or foundational knowledge in electronics. Strong listening, time management, and problem-solving skills.
