The AES Indiana Generation team is seeking a Co-op Engineer to support operations, maintenance, and asset performance initiatives at Harding Street Station and other AES Indiana generating facilities, including Georgetown and Eagle Valley. This role reports directly to the Harding Street Gas Turbine and DCS Team Lead and provides hands-on exposure to power generation operations, maintenance planning, project execution, troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and plant performance optimization. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, safety, and project management teams to support critical plant initiatives while gaining practical experience in utility-scale power generation.
Qualifications
Must be pursuing or have a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related STEM field. Must possess a valid state-issued Driver's License. Must be authorized to work in the State of Indiana.
Primary Responsibilities
Support day-to-day troubleshooting of operational and maintenance issues at Harding Street Station, including field investigations, documentation, and technical analysis of ongoing equipment and system challenges. Assist Operations, Wastewater, and Gas Turbine teams in coordinating with Project and Outage Planning to ensure the safe and effective planning and execution of work. Support outage execution activities and facilitate coordination between Operations, Maintenance, and Outage teams to promote safe and efficient project execution. Responsibilities may include occasional off-shift and weekend support. Support plant asset performance assessments and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts. Support Management of Change (MOC) and plant compliance processes. Assist with work management activities, including creation of notifications and purchase requisitions within SAP. Examples of Work Assignments Technical Support Perform data-based analysis using plant systems and software applications such as EtaPRO, PI, EDS, and other operational tools to support plant leadership decision-making. Coordinate alignment meetings between Operations teams and support organizations, including Outage Planning, Maintenance, Environmental, Safety, Security, and Financial Planning & Analysis. Create and manage MOCs through the approval process and coordinate associated Prior-to-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs). Facilitate work management processes through SAP work order, notification, and procurement activities. Assist with development and implementation of plant process improvements.
