Position Summary The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing daily department operations, driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards for product quality, food safety, and department presentation. This role assists with associate development, inventory management, merchandising, and operational execution while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Department Operations
Assist in managing day-to-day meat department operations. Ensure products are properly cut, packaged, stocked, rotated, and displayed. Maintain department cleanliness, sanitation, and organization standards. Support execution of merchandising plans, promotions, and seasonal programs. Monitor department conditions to ensure operational readiness throughout business hours. Customer Service
Deliver exceptional customer service and foster a customer-focused environment. Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and preparation recommendations. Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly. Promote department products through product knowledge and suggestive selling. Leadership & Associate Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and support to meat department associates. Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training activities. Monitor associate performance and provide constructive feedback. Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture. Inventory & Financial Performance
Assist with inventory management, ordering, and replenishment. Monitor shrink, waste, and out-of-stock conditions. Support labor management and departmental expense control initiatives. Help achieve department sales, profitability, and margin objectives. Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Maintain proper storage, handling, labeling, and rotation procedures. Follow all company safety programs and operational policies. Assist with audits, inspections, and corrective action plans when necessary. Merchandising & Product Quality
Maintain attractive department displays and merchandising standards. Monitor product quality, freshness, and shelf life. Ensure promotional and seasonal items are properly displayed. Assist with production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
