We are seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter to join our Pipe Shop team. This role requires a skilled professional with strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or in a team in a process-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial maintenance and piping experience, the ability to work independently from engineering drawings, and experience supporting plant utility and process systems.

Position

Summary The Pipe Fitter/Welder will fabricate, install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial piping systems and mechanical equipment throughout the facility. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to perform high-quality work with minimal supervision.

What you will be doing

Understand and follow industrial safety procedures and best practices Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics with minimal supervision Specify and select materials for piping, plumbing, and mechanical installations Fabricate, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair piping systems (including stainless, carbon steel, PVC, tubing and hose) and mechanical equipment Perform welding using: Electric welding TIG welding MIG welding Acetylene welding Weld and repair pressure piping and related components Support maintenance and operation of: Air washer systems Plant fire protection systems Compressed air systems Plant effluent systems Well water systems Steam trap systems Automatic valves Safety relief valves (SRVs) Assist with facility maintenance projects Support systems associated with: Power plant processes Paper mill processes Utilize basic computer proficiency to access a computerized maintenance management system (Aptean EAM), create work orders, identify parts in inventory, and access maintenance files Participate in overtime, emergency call-ins, weekend work, holiday coverage, and rotating shift assignments as needed We’d love to hear from you if: Minimum of five (5) years of related industrial pipe fitting and/or welding experience OR equivalent technical training and experience Demonstrated quality workmanship and attention to detail Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and piping layouts Experience with industrial piping fabrication and installation Welding certifications and demonstrated proficiency in applicable welding procedures Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude Ability to work independently with minimal instruction/supervision Good attendance and strong safety record Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills Willingness to work in a variety of industrial conditions and environments Preferred Qualifications Experience in industrial manufacturing environments Experience in paper mill or power plant operations Knowledge of pressure piping systems and steam systems Experience maintaining fire protection and water treatment systems Familiarity with SRVs, steam traps, pumps, manual valves, air/electrically actuated valves, and mechanical utility systems ASME Section IX and/or AWS certifications preferred Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance
