As a Software Development Engineer (SDE), you will own the feature design, development, testing, and deployment of components that directly shape how millions of employees discover upskilling opportunities, professional development programs, and career advancement pathways from Day 1. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to design and build reliable, scalable distributed systems from the ground up. They set a high bar across the full software development lifecycle — design, development, documentation, testing, and operations — and can partner effectively with other software developers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Learning Scientists to answer key questions about how people learn and grow at Amazon. Strong technical ability, excellent project management, and great communication skills round out the profile, along with the ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.
