About this role
Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Seattle City Light’s Engineering and Technology Operations Division is currently seeking a Capital Projects Coordinator to work in our Development Review Team. The Development Review Team manages multidisciplinary evaluations of interdepartmental and municipal project submittals, including preliminary assessments and conceptual plans, to verify compliance with SCL requirements. Project Coordinators provide paramount customer service by identifying and engaging appropriate internal subject-matter experts, consolidating review comments, and overseeing milestone tracking to ensure timely and accurate deliverables. Staff also facilitate interdepartmental coordination meetings as necessary and provide support for high-visibility, publicly or politically sensitive projects. Our objective is to deliver consistent, thorough, and well-coordinated responses to both internal and external stakeholders. This work is performed with a high degree of independence and requires solid knowledge of engineering and architectural principles, construction practices, estimating, permitting, and project management.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive coordination and oversight of capital project development for both public and private initiatives. You will work across Seattle City Light, other City departments, outside agencies, and community partners providing critical customer service to review development plans, support permitting activities, and ensure that capital and development projects align with utility standards and City requirements. You will also help guide projects from early planning through construction by facilitating communication, resolving issues, and maintaining forward momentum. In addition, you will manage critical project records and controls, ensuring all documentation is accurate, organized, and readily accessible.
