Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a highly qualified Attorney Manager with strong litigation expertise, operational management skills, and a deep understanding of insurance defense litigation. The Attorney Manager will play a critical role in overseeing team performance, developing litigation strategies, and fostering a culture of integrity and continuous improvement. Responsibilities:
Operational Management and Oversight: Assist the Resident Attorney in managing team operations, contributing positively to overall office metrics, and supporting office-level initiatives. Litigation: Manage litigation activities within the team as well as your own case load ensuring quality legal representation that aligns with departmental and organizational goals. Caseload Management: Oversee distribution of caseloads and file assignments based on case complexity and attorney experience. Quality Assurance: Conduct internal quarterly file audits for the team and assist the Resident Attorney with office-wide audits to uphold high-quality legal standards and minimize risk. Relationship Management: Build and maintain trusted relationships with claims leadership and business units to assess and enhance litigation strategies and claims processing efficiencies. Process Improvement: Assist in process improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovation within the legal team. Compliance Culture: Foster a culture of integrity by ensuring legal practices adhere to industry regulations, ethical standards, and corporate policies, including mentoring attorneys on adherence to MRPC. Talent Acquisition and Development: Support or lead interviewing and hiring processes for the team. Mentor, coach, and develop attorneys through talent management practices focused on growth, engagement, and collaboration to meet performance benchmarks.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing trial attorney with demonstrated management experience. Strong litigation skills in insurance defense, including auto, premises liability, and general liability and as necessary, workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law. Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing legal teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to persuasively present complex legal and business issues. In-depth knowledge of legal ethics, compliance standards, and risk management. Ability to build collaborative relationships with claims and business partners. Competent in leveraging technology and process improvements to enhance legal operations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workflows and caseloads effectively.
