As a Cyber Technologist (Research), you will apply innovative thinking, technical curiosity and rigorous experimentation to solve difficult customer problems. Working within our Operational Effects capability area, you will conduct applied research, investigate emerging technologies, and develop novel solutions that deliver real operational impact. Whether you are an experienced researcher, a cyber specialist looking to expand your influence, or a technical expert passionate about innovation, this role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of national security challenges while contributing to technology that makes a difference. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with customers, and help shape future capabilities through technical leadership, experimentation and insight. What you’ll be doing You will: Conduct applied research to explore and solve complex cyber and technology challenges. Design and deliver technical investigations, experiments and proof-of-concept activities. Develop prototypes, demonstrations and innovative technical solutions. Produce clear technical reports, recommendations and customer briefings. Provide specialist advice and support to customers, stakeholders and delivery teams. Contribute to innovation activities, business development opportunities and future capability growth. What we’re looking for We are interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate: Relevant experience delivering technical solutions, research activities or innovation projects within cyber, technology, defence, intelligence, security or related domains. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical challenges. Experience communicating technical concepts to a range of audiences through reports, presentations and workshops. The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A proactive approach to learning and maintaining expertise in emerging technologies. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and customer focus. Desirable experience Defence, national security, intelligence or government sector experience. Experience delivering applied research, experimentation or advanced technology programmes. Experience mentoring colleagues or providing technical leadership. Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, although equivalent experience is equally valued. Even if you do not meet every requirement, we would still encourage you to apply.
