Newmont Cerro Negro es una operación, donde el empleado vive en campamento y luego es retornado a su localidad para el descanso, esta se encuentra a 600 metros sobre el nivel del mar en las llanuras patagónicas bajas del sur de Argentina. Está a dos horas en auto hacia el sur desde la comunidad más cercana, Perito Moreno, y a seis horas en auto hacia el suroeste desde Comodoro Rivadavia, donde se encuentra el aeropuerto comercial más cercano con vuelos a Buenos Aires. Newmont Cerro Negro tiene tres minas operativas subterráneas de alta ley –Eureka, Mariana Central y Marina Norte– y dos depósitos subterráneos –Emilia, que alcanzó producción comercial en 2022, y San Marcos, que actualmente se encuentra en desarrollo.
Your contribution
As a Supervisor Geotechnical, you will oversee geotechnical activities to support ground stability, risk management and safe mining operations. You'll provide technical guidance and ensure geotechnical standards, quality requirements and safety expectations are met across mining activities.
As part of our team, you will
Assess geotechnical conditions and provide recommendations to support ground stability and safe mining operations. Conduct and oversee geotechnical investigations, data collection activities and technical reporting. Review stope designs and geotechnical findings to support operational performance and stability requirements. Collaborate with technical services and mining teams while providing technical support to field personnel. Identify geotechnical risks, implement mitigation measures and monitor changes in risk profiles while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Prerequisites for success in this role
Formal education in Geotechnical Engineering. Proven knowledge of geotechnical risk mitigation practices and safety
