Participate in system design and architecture discussions, including scalability, availability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance. Develop and support cloud-native solutions using AWS services. Design and optimize data access using MySQL, including queries, indexes, transactions, and overall database performance. Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, APIs, databases, messaging platforms, and distributed systems. Implement appropriate error handling, retry mechanisms, monitoring, logging, and operational resiliency. Conduct code reviews and promote strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, security, and maintainability. Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers. Take ownership of applications and services from design and development through deployment and production support. Experience you'll need to have: 8+ years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on development experience with Java. Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture. Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture. Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and/or Amazon MSK. Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native application development. Strong experience with MySQL or similar relational databases. Strong understanding of system design, including scalability, high availability, resiliency, performance, and fault tolerance. Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services. Solid understanding of concurrency, asynchronous processing, caching, messaging, and distributed application patterns. Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications in production environments. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability, and secure development. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or foreign equivalent degree) or equivalent work experience
