Job Summary

Caterpillar is looking for an experienced payments leader to serve as the Enterprise Payments Governance & Operations Lead, helping establish and scale Caterpillar's Enterprise Payments Center of Excellence (CoE) within Cat Digital. This role sits at the center of how enterprise payment decisions are made across the company, ensuring that business units can deliver customer payment experiences while operating within a consistent set of enterprise standards and governance frameworks. You will be responsible for operationalizing Caterpillar's enterprise payments governance model, translating strategy into repeatable processes, decision frameworks, and controls that can be consistently applied across business units, geographies, and channels. Your focus is not on owning individual payment implementations, but on ensuring that payment related decisions across the enterprise are aligned, scalable, and compliant. You will lead governance activities across enterprise payment initiatives and partner closely with Treasury, Tax, Legal, ERP, Finance, Product, Architecture, and Digital teams to drive consistent decision making, manage exceptions, and establish standards that support enterprise growth. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring strong facilitation skills, operational discipline, business judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders. You will play a critical role in establishing the operating model that enables Caterpillar's long-term enterprise payments strategy.
What you will do
Own and operate the Enterprise Payments governance framework across business units and channels Ensure consistent application of enterprise payments standards, policies, and decision frameworks Lead the intake and governance review process for payment related initiatives across the enterprise Establish and manage governance processes for: Payment Service Provider (PSP) selection and lifecycle management Exception review, approval, tracking, and remediation Enterprise payment standards adoption Governance decision documentation and communication Facilitate enterprise decision-making across: Treasury (banking, settlement, liquidity) Tax (Merchant of Record, indirect tax, entity structure) Legal (contracts, regulatory requirements, compliance) ERP and Finance (order-to-cash alignment and reconciliation) Supporting Digital and Technology Teams And also: Coordinate enterprise reviews for new payment methods, payment capabilities, and platform changes Partner with the Enterprise Payments Domain and Strategy teams to ensure governance decisions are translated into actionable implementation guidance Identify opportunities to improve governance effectiveness, reduce complexity, and increase standardization Drive adoption of enterprise payment standards across business units Serve as a primary escalation point for governance related decisions
