Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Modem Technologies General Summary: Staff RTL Verification Engineer – RISC-V Application Processor General Summary Qualcomm is seeking an experienced Staff RTL Verification Engineer to join the team developing next-generation high-performance RISC‑V Application Processors. In this role, you will lead verification of complex CPU and SoC subsystems, drive verification strategy, and influence architectural and design decisions throughout the product lifecycle. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for defining scalable verification methodologies, driving execution across multiple domains, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of high-quality silicon. This position requires deep verification expertise, strong technical leadership, and the ability to drive initiatives that impact multiple teams and projects. The ideal candidate combines extensive CPU or SoC verification experience with a proven track record of technical leadership, cross-functional influence, and successful delivery of complex products.

Key Responsibilities

Lead verification of complex CPU and SoC subsystems from specification through tape-out. Define verification strategies, test plans, coverage models, and signoff criteria. Architect and develop advanced verification environments and reusable verification infrastructure. Drive verification execution, debug, coverage closure, and risk management across large functional domains. Partner closely with architecture, design, modeling, software, validation, and implementation teams. Influence architectural and microarchitectural decisions by providing verification-driven insights. Lead cross-functional technical initiatives spanning multiple teams and development sites. Champion verification methodology improvements, automation, and best practices across the organization. Drive verification readiness reviews, milestone assessments, and silicon signoff activities. Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to senior team members. Contribute to long-term verification strategy, roadmap planning, and reusable infrastructure development.

Required Qualifications

B.Sc . or M.Sc . in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in RTL/ASIC verification. Proven experience leading verification efforts for complex CPU, SoC, or subsystem designs. Strong expertise in SystemVerilog, UVM, constrained-random verification, and coverage-driven methodologies. Experience with assertions and assertion-based verification (SVA). Strong debugging skills and ability to independently resolve complex design and verification issues. Strong understanding of microprocessor architecture and modern verification methodologies. Expertise in one or more of the following areas: CPU microarchitecture RISC-V architecture MMU and virtual memory systems Cache and memory hierarchy Coherency protocols Interconnect and SoC architecture Strong programming and scripting skills (C/C++, Python, Perl, Tcl, or similar). Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience verifying high-performance CPU cores or application processors. Deep knowledge of RISC‑V privileged architecture, memory management, interrupts, and exception handling. Experience with formal verification methodologies and tools. Experience with emulation and FPGA-based verification platforms. Track record of driving verification methodology improvements across multiple projects. Experience leading multi-site development efforts and influencing technical direction without direct management authority. Proven ability to mentor engineers and develop future technical leaders.
