About this role

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all . Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. At Micron, we are driving the future of memory technology through innovative DRAM solutions that power artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and next-generation applications. The Thin Films Process Development Engineering team develops and optimizes advanced thin film deposition and metallization processes that enable future memory scaling and improved device performance. Our engineers collaborate across process, integration, equipment, metrology, and product engineering fields to solve complex manufacturing challenges and advance innovative semiconductor technologies. As an intern focused on developing thin films processes, you will gain hands-on experience developing and characterizing advanced thin film and metallization processes used in DRAM manufacturing. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will play a role in a technical project dedicated to process development, data analysis, process optimization, and technology innovation. Interns will contribute to the development of advanced metallization and thin-film processes supporting ground-breaking DRAM technologies. Projects may include deposition process development, process characterization, tool qualification, materials evaluation, defect reduction, AI-Enabled data analysis, and process optimization for advanced memory devices. This internship provides exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, cleanroom operations, and advanced engineering methodologies while supporting real-world technology development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Support the development, optimization, and characterization of advanced thin film deposition and metallization processes for next-generation DRAM technologies. Design and implement experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies and perform statistical analysis to evaluate process performance and drive improvements. Collect, analyze, and visualize process and metrology data to identify trends, process interactions, and engineering opportunities. Collaborate with process, integration, equipment, metrology, and product engineering teams to investigate process excursions, perform root-cause analysis, and support technology development activities. Develop and utilize AI-Assisted workflows, AI-Enabled engineering tools, automation solutions, or data analytics methods to improve process monitoring, technical reporting, engineering productivity, and decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related engineering or technical field. Experience with experimental design, data analysis, statistical methods, or engineering research projects. Knowledge of materials characterization, semiconductor processing, thin films, or related manufacturing technologies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with semiconductor process development, deposition technologies, metallization processes, or advanced manufacturing environments. Experience with programming, scripting, automation, data science, or Leveraging AI to support engineering analysis and workflow optimization. Familiarity with statistical software, data visualization tools, Python, JMP, MATLAB, R, or similar analytical platforms. Experience interpreting metrology and characterization data to evaluate material properties, process capability, or manufacturing performance. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings and
