About this role
This position will develop and lead the admission office’s programs to expand access to law school for students from groups that are underrepresented in law school and the legal profession. In close coordination with the Director of Law Admission and Dean of Law Admission, this position will help develop and expand scholarship and pipeline programs, as well as other diversity initiatives to seek to increase enrollment of diverse and nontraditional students.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement marketing and recruiting strategies to recruit and enroll students from groups that are underrepresented in law school and the legal profession, including but not limited to students who are ethnically diverse, the first in their family to graduate from college, LGBTQ+, or economically disadvantaged. This could include developing or expanding scholarship, pipeline, and alternate admission programs to increase enrollment of students from groups that are underrepresented in law school. Serve as an in-person recruiter for Suffolk Law, especially in recruiting diverse and nontraditional law students. This requires counseling prospective students about the law school application and admission process, coordinating and hosting in-person and virtual recruiting and yield events, and representing Suffolk Law at recruiting events. This position requires travel in the U.S. and Canada, including travel by car and air, and may require overnight stays and weekend hours. Serve as program director for Suffolk Law’s Legal Education Alternative Admission Program (LEAAP), which is an alternative admission program for underrepresented students whose standardized test scores are lower than the typical entering class profile. This includes communicating with applicants, scheduling interviews, and other administrative logistics, as well as collecting data and information to help make strategic decisions about the program in coordination with the Director of Law Admission and the Dean of Law Admission (For example, analyzing data about LEAAP students after they are admitted, and helping define what is success). Serve as program director for the Suffolk Pre-Law Achievers Network, a summer pipeline program for college students who are considering law school and are from groups that are underrepresented in law school. This includes creating and implementing a marketing plan to attract applicants, applying for grant opportunities to support the program, communicating and reviewing applications, developing and organizing programming, and other administrative logistics, as well as collecting data to help make strategic decisions in coordination with the Director of Law Admission and the Dean of Law Admission. Assist in the overall success of the admission office, which may include helping at in-person and virtual law admission events, counseling prospective law students, and generally serving as a concierge to provide a high level of service to our prospective students. Review applications and participate in admission decisions. Create and send digital marketing (email, social media) in support of diversity initiatives. Monitor and update law school websites as needed in support of diversity initiatives. Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two to four years of experience required. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Valid driver’s license. Note: This position may require significant U.S. travel. Computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Unite, Slate, or another CRM preferred. The salary range for this role is $56,250 - $93,750.
