JOB DESCRIPTION
KDFW FOX 4—the ratings leader in the #4 media market in the nation—is moving into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. To maintain seamless live newscast operations at our current facility while permanent staff train on systems at the new site, we are seeking experienced, temporary candidates to fill News Production Director, Master Control Technician, Production Technician, and Production Automation Technician roles for an 8-week assignment. News Production Director (Temporary 8-Week Assignment) The Responsibilities Live Newscast Directing: Call and execute daily live newscasts, breaking news, and special programming with absolute precision in a fast-paced environment. Control Room Operations: Utilize studio automation, video playback, graphics platforms, and NRCS software to execute smooth, clean broadcasts. Rundown Management: Adapt instantly to live timing adjustments, unscripted breaking news, and dynamic rundown changes while maintaining timing accuracy. Crew Collaboration: Communicate clearly and decisively with producers, control room staff, studio crew, and on-air talent during live broadcasts. Operational Quality: Ensure error-free execution of graphic elements, camera moves, and audio switches under live-air pressure. Key Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-Film (RTF), Communications, or equivalent professional experience. Directing Background: 3+ years of experience calling daily live newscasts in a mid-to-large market. Technical Systems: Hands-on experience with control room automation systems (Sony ELC experience preferred) and Newsroom Computer Systems (iNews/ENPS). Control Room Demeanor: Decisive, clear communicator who maintains composure and focus under live breaking news conditions. Availability: Must be flexible to work variable shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
