WLAN Linux Networking Engineer Staff (Software)

Work as part of Qualcomm's Wi-Fi Access Point networking data path team on tasks that consistently aim to break performance and complexity barriers. You will be working on networking protocols, unified data paths, AI/ML based smart traffic management, AI middleware managing on-chip AI inference accelerators, network device drivers, network offload mechanisms to SW and HW accelerators, Quality of Service and other features across the range of our industry leading wireless access point router solutions. You will be solving challenges related to packet flow, service delivery, traffic management, performance, mapping of packet processing to various HW offload/CPU options and many more. 10+ years of experience in software development in using C/C++ programming languages in Networking / Linux device drivers / system software / Embedded software domains, ideally involving ethernet or Wireless LAN drivers. Very good understanding of Linux Kernel internals and experience with low level kernel programming such as writing/modifying device drivers. Strong in C programming Good knowledge of basic network protocols such as TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ARP, DHCP, VLANs. Strong analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills. Strong team communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with teams across the globe. Strong architectural skills to design and implement for performance, modularity, and portability. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. Knowledge of L2/L3/L4 packet forwarding schemes such as Linux bridge/route/tunnels/OpenVswitch/DPDK/VPP is a plus and would help you stand out from others. Knowledge of Linux network stack internals is a plus. Relevant experience with ethernet/wireless LAN device drivers is a plus. Strong understanding of CPU/IO architecture (ARM or others) concepts is a plus. Prior experience with AI/ML based applications is a plus. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Development, release and maintenance of network stack and network offload related features and/or applications for advanced networking products Solving networking problems for top-of-the-line network and wireless customer product launches and deployments Involvement in cutting edge performance improvement exercises for the product by identifying and resolving SW/HW performance bottlenecks. Involvement in pre-silicon emulation and post-silicon software development and validation efforts for various products. Working with peer teams to define clean and scalable SW interfaces Level of Responsibility: Works under supervision.     Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc. Tasks may not always have well-defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
