At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts. Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet. Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all. Join eBay’s Advertising and Marketing Technology teams to build the platforms, services, and user experiences that help sellers grow their business and make eBay the destination website for existing and new customers. You’ll work on high-scale systems spanning frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and AI-assisted engineering workflows, partnering closely with product, design, analytics, and applied science. We’re looking for engineers who can turn business problems into reliable, maintainable software, make sound technical tradeoffs, and take ownership from design through production. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems in a fast-moving environment where performance, quality, and measurable customer impact matter.
Job Responsibilities
Design and build innovative advertising, marketing platform features that help eBay sellers, advertisers grow their business and help eBay become the dominant eCommerce platform. Develop scalable, highly available applications, APIs, and services using technologies such as Marko, React, Node.js, Java, and Scala. Own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical design and architecture through deployment and production support. Drive technical decisions, system design, and cross-team collaboration to ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions. Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) throughout the development lifecycle for coding, debugging, testing, and code review to increase engineering velocity. Contribute to AI-powered advertising and marketing features by collaborating with ML engineers on LLM integrations, recommendation systems, and intelligent campaign optimization. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, Agile development, open-source collaboration, and rapid software delivery. Mentor team members, participate in technical discussions, and help shape engineering best practices across the organization. Job Requirements: BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 10+ years work experience or MS with 8+ years of relevant experience. Strong experience in building modern web applications at scale with React (or similar frameworks), HTML/CSS, RESTful APIs and responsive design. Experience with relational (Oracle/Postgres/MySQL) and/or NoSQL (Cassandra/MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimization. Proven ability to own end-to-end system design: writing technical design documents, leading design reviews, and making architectural decisions for multi-service features. Experience designing scalable distributed systems with a track record of evaluating trade-offs (consistency, availability, latency, cost) and driving technical alignment across teams. Experience with AI-assisted development practices and tools to increase engineering productivity (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent). Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features, agentic workflows, or AI-driven automation in production systems is a plus. Strong ownership mentality with ability to drive work end-to-end in a collaborative environment. Exposure to GraphQL and experience in building Federated GraphQL APIs is highly desirable.
