Description of Position
TPG is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative professional to join the Public Accounting (PubCo) team. This role focuses on the technical accounting aspects of TPG’s fund operations and corporate structures. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource, ensuring that complex transactions are structured and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory standards. This position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and the ability to build strong relationships with fund accounting teams, external auditors, and senior leadership.
Principal Responsibilities
• Collaborate with TPG’s fund accounting and finance teams, Third-Party Fund Administrators, and other internal stakeholders to analyze and structure complex transactions impacting the firm's fund accounting.
• Determine and document the accounting treatment for fund transactions; serve as a primary liaison with external auditors to resolve technical positions.
• Review, interpret, and develop diverse accounting policies to ensure compliance with company procedures, U.S. GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.
• Research new accounting regulations and pronouncements (specifically impacting the private equity/alternative asset industry) and lead the implementation of necessary solutions.
• Review financial statements and regulatory filings to ensure consistency with U.S. GAAP; provide insights on industry trends to drive policy improvement projects.
• Incorporate and maintain SOX controls within the technical accounting function to ensure a robust control environment.
• Partner with leadership across TPG to establish and maintain consistency in the application of accounting policies and procedures.
Requirements
• Education & Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA license is required.
• Experience: 5 – 8 years of general and technical accounting experience, specifically coming from a public accounting firm.
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in ASC 946 (Investment Companies) and ASC 820 (Fair Value Measurement).
• Problem Solving: A hands-on professional who thrives when working through ambiguous and complex problems.
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop positive working relationships across various departments.
