Job Summary

A Technical Publications Specialist develops, writes, and maintains high-quality documentation that supports aerospace and defense systems throughout their lifecycle. They collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, and program teams to ensure all technical data is accurate, compliant, and aligned with contractual and military standards. This role includes organizing complex technical information into clear, user-focused manuals, guides, and digital content. The specialist also reviews and updates existing publications to reflect system modifications, safety requirements, and evolving customer needs. Overall, they help ensure that personnel can safely operate, maintain, and understand advanced equipment through precise and reliable documentation. Roles and Responsibilities • Research, draft, and update operator manuals, maintenance work cards, troubleshooting guides, technical bulletins, and specifications. • Review and comment on Contractor Data Requirements List (CDRL) for maintainer/operator manuals. • Formulate clear, safe, step-by-step procedures for field and sustainment maintenance. • Review publications for classification, proprietary info, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)/ Export Administration Regulations (EAR) compliance, copyright, and trademark adherence. • Manage lifecycle workflows, version control, configuration baselines, and revision histories in accordance with Engineering Change Number (ECN), Engineering Change Proposal (ECP), Modified Work Order (MWO), Technical Bulletins (TB), and software releases. • Review and ensure accuracy of technical graphics, exploded diagrams, tables, flowcharts, and screenshots. • Organize Technical Manual verification and validation events. • Incorporate user feedback and trends into updated documentation. • Collaborate with instructional training teams to convert technical data into curricula. • Assist with Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTL) and Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) development aligned with GEIA-HB-0007. • Coordinate IPTs, working groups, and engagements with Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) and Army Logistics Command (ALC) publication teams. Basic Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree (recommended fields: Logistics, Engineering, Technical Writing, Aviation Technology, or related disciplines). · Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in logistics, aviation maintenance, technical publications, or comparable military/industrial technical domains. · Active Secret security clearance required.
