As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management Operations Tech, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role Job responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance business-critical applications using Java, Spring Boot, and ReactJS, with a primary focus on backend engineering (60%) and modern UI development (40%). Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards Partner closely with Compliance, Operations, Front Office, and technology teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable, high-impact solutions supporting global investment compliance workflows. Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation Drive automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes to improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort. Leverage observability, SRE, and DevOps practices to ensure application reliability, proactive monitoring, and operational excellence for a globally critical platform. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience. 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture. Hands-on full-stack development experience with ReactJS preferred (or equivalent modern UI frameworks such as Angular or Vue). Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases, including query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Experience with modern software delivery practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile development methodologies. Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to deliver resilient, scalable, and maintainable software solutions Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience with Public Cloud technologies (AWS preferred) Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift. Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, or ELK. Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
