Who we are looking for State Street is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our Investment Book of Records (IBOR) Development Team . We are looking for a highly motivated technology professional with strong analytical, problem-solving, and software engineering skills who can contribute across both legacy and modern technology platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in COBOL-based application development, a passion for modernization, and the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver innovative technology solutions. What you will be responsible for As Senior Software Developer, you will: Lead the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of mission-critical IBOR applications. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Develop and support enterprise applications using COBOL and related technologies. Participate in application modernization initiatives, including converting and refactoring COBOL applications to Java-based solutions Collaborate with solution architects, business analysts, QA teams, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Perform system analysis, technical design, coding, testing, and implementation activities. Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution for application defects. Review code and technical designs to ensure adherence to development standards and best practices. Contribute to application performance tuning, stability improvements, and operational excellence initiatives. Support Agile development practices including sprint planning, estimation, and release activities. Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership within the team. Participate in technology modernization assessments and roadmap planning.

Strong understanding of mainframe or distributed legacy application architectures. Experience with application modernization and migration programs. Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline. 10 + years of professional software development experience. Significant hands-on experience with COBOL application development and support. Experience working in complex enterprise application environments. Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and software engineering best practices. Additional requirements Ability to participate in production support activities as needed. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
