About this role
WHAT YOU’LL DO: As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist at CoolIT Systems, you will support the design, testing, and manufacturing of advanced liquid cooling solutions for data centers, enterprise servers, and high-performance computing systems. With approximately three years of industry experience, you are expected to work independently on assigned projects, coordinate projects with contract design teams, assist engineers in detailed design work, and contribute to product testing and validation processes. This role combines hands-on technical work with CAD design, prototyping, and support for manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in supporting design engineering to turn design concepts into real-world, manufacturable solutions while helping ensure quality, performance, and reliability standards are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES
CAD Design & Drafting Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for components and assemblies using SolidWorks Generate high-volume design collateral including detailed technical drawings, assembly drawings, and exploded views Apply GD&T principles, perform tolerance stack-ups, and create comprehensive BOMs Ensure designs meet company and industry standards for manufacturability and assembly Support layout designs and dimensional verification of mechanical components Prototype Development & Testing Support fabrication and assembly of prototypes for new and existing products Conduct hands-on mechanical and thermal testing, data collection, and measurement activities Modify and rework prototypes based on test results and engineering feedback Assist with test fixture setup and validation testing procedures Document test procedures and maintain test equipment Documentation & Change Management Prepare and maintain extensive documentation including BOMs, work instructions, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs) Support implementation of design changes throughout the product lifecycle Maintain drawing revision control and ensure accurate documentation updates Create assembly instructions and manufacturing work instructions Manufacturing & Assembly Support Collaborate with production teams to resolve technical issues during assembly and fabrication Provide hands-on support for assembly methods and component integration Conduct first article inspections and dimensional verification of manufactured parts Assist with production troubleshooting and process improvements Provide technical input during design reviews with cross-functional teams Quality & Compliance Inspect and verify incoming and outgoing mechanical components for dimensional and functional accuracy Assist with root cause analysis of product failures or defects and support corrective actions Support quality control processes and maintain inspection records Ensure compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards Team Collaboration Work closely with mechanical engineers, thermal engineers, and manufacturing staff to meet project timelines and deliverables Participate in technical meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Support cross-functional project activities and design validation efforts Project management Coordinate drafting projects with internal and external parties. Oversee handoff and completion of projects with external parties.
WHO YOU ARE
Basic Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited institution Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in thermal systems, electronics cooling, or manufacturing Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D technical drawing standards Solid understanding of mechanical fabrication methods, materials, and assembly processes Experience with mechanical tools, lab equipment, and test instrumentation Knowledge of GD&T principles
