About this role
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks — from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies operating in locations without reliable connectivity. The Leo Customer Terminal Application and Networking Team builds the on-device software that runs on the customer's antenna and turns it into a fast, reliable, self-diagnosing internet gateway. As a Software Development Engineer II on this team, you will design and build software that operates on customer terminals deployed in the field at large scale — where there is no physical access and connectivity can be intermittent. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, networking, and cloud teams to take features from design through testing and launch. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities Improve the speed and reliability of the customer's internet connection on the terminal. - Build software that gives customers and support teams the tools to detect and resolve issues on their own, reducing the need for on-site visits. - Deliver device health and diagnostics data from the fleet reliably and efficiently, so engineering has visibility into how terminals are performing in the field. - Own features end to end — design, implementation, testing, code review, deployment, and validation on live hardware — writing high-quality, maintainable code. - Debug complex issues that span hardware, software, and the cloud, and raise the operational bar for software running on a rapidly growing production fleet. - Collaborate with hardware, firmware, networking, and cloud teams to deliver features that meet quality and performance bars for launch.
About the team
We build the software that lives on the customer's terminal — powering its connectivity, performance, and self-service diagnostics across a rapidly growing global fleet.
