Partner with the best As a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Downhole Tools , you will contribute to the further development of the company's technology products on a project-by-project basis. In this exciting position, you will perform mechanical design and engineering, prototyping and qualification, as well as commercialization activities for wireline and downhole technologies.
Responsibilities
Contributing to the development of new technologies and sustaining existing products as part of our engineering group by: Leading the design, analysis, and development of wireline tools and mechanical systems from concept through commercialization. Executing complex engineering activities using sound engineering principles, business standards, established procedures, and product or program requirements. Performing detailed mechanical analysis, including stress, fatigue, vibration, tolerance stack-up, reliability, and finite element analysis (FEA). Developing and reviewing engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, calculations, bills of material, and technical documentation. Planning and executing design verification and qualification testing, including environmental, functional, reliability, and field validation testing. Writing test procedures, overseeing or conducting testing, analyzing results, and preparing clear technical reports. Leading root-cause investigations and implementing corrective actions for field failures, manufacturing issues, and reliability concerns. Supporting product lifecycle activities, including sustaining engineering, cost reduction, obsolescence mitigation, and continuous improvement. Collaborating with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Reliability, AMO, Service Delivery, Product Management, HSE, and Commercial teams. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians while promoting engineering best practices. Participating in technical and design reviews and product qualification activities. Presenting technical recommendations, risks, and project status to engineering and business leadership. Ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, HSE requirements, regulatory requirements, and quality processes. Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will: Have a Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's degree, in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college. Have proven experience in downhole tool design and development within wireline, completions, drilling, intervention, or other downhole technology environments. Demonstrate expertise in mechanical design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and product qualification. Have strong proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or NX. Have experience using engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS or equivalent FEA software. Demonstrate strong problem-solving, structured root-cause analysis, and sound technical decision-making skills. Have demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex technical assignments and priorities. Demonstrate strong customer focus, commercial awareness, and the ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes.
