Has a general knowledge of the work function Chevron ’s Shale & Tight Business is accepting online applications for the position of Mechanic Apprentice located in multiple locations through August 17th , 20 26 at 11:59 PM ( Central Standard Time). The Mechanic Apprenticeship is designed to build technical skills in preventative maintenance tasks and gain hands-on experience in corrective repairs of oil & gas mechanical equipment . As part of the program, apprentices will work with a range of equipment and systems such as reciprocating engines and compressors, centrifugal compressors, vapor recovery units (VRUs) & air compressors, centrifugal pumps and more, providing valuable exposure to real-world applications in the industry. Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices are introduced to operating , troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining oil and gas production in partnership with Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center , and Maintenance and Reliability team member s . The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business Unit. Apprentices will work closely with a dedicated mentor, to develop a broad understanding of how teams an d functions work together to safely deliver production and minimize downtime and will also participate in computer-based and classroom training . This is a temporary 6 ‑ month field-based position .
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent Must have a v alid Driver's License Ability and willingness to work day and night shift work, weekends, and holidays based on assigned work schedule . Live within 50 miles of the work location or willingness to relocate within 50 miles of the work location for the duration of the apprenticeship This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven record in Safety and Reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following: complete an Applied Associates of Science degree ( Mechanical Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance , Mechanical Technology or Mechanically related field ) OR have equivalent education or military training OR finish a certificate program (Mechanical Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance , Mechanical Technology , or Mechanically related field ) with previous oil & gas or similar industry experience. Additionally , a minimum GPA of 2.5 in core classes is required , and transcripts must be uploaded to the applicant’s online profile Previous experience with reliability, safety and/or environmental process related issues. Previous experience with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software applications . Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and intern al and external customers .
