About this role
Senior Salesforce Reports & Dashboards Developer (with Tableau Reporting)1 Key Responsibilities Business/Functional Partner with business stakeholders (Sales, Service, Marketing, Finance, Operations) to gather reporting requirements and translate KPIs/metrics into report and dashboard specifications. Recommend the right tool and approach for a given need — native Salesforce reports/dashboards vs. Tableau vs. CRM Analytics (Tableau CRM/Einstein Analytics) — based on data volume, audience, refresh needs, and visualization complexity. Define and document data definitions, calculated metrics, and business logic so metrics are consistent and trusted across the organization. Lead requirement walkthroughs and mockup reviews with business users; iterate on wireframes/mockups before build. Provide analytics support during executive/board reporting cycles (QBRs, monthly/quarterly business reviews). Train business users and admins on self-service reporting best practices within Salesforce and Tableau. Salesforce Reports & Dashboards Design and build custom, complex reports and dashboards in Salesforce: joined reports, matrix/summary reports, cross-filters, bucket fields, custom report types, and dashboard filters/dynamic dashboards. Optimize report and dashboard performance for large data volumes, including use of custom report types, indexed fields, and folder/sharing structures. Configure dashboard subscriptions, scheduled report exports/refreshes, and mobile-friendly dashboard layouts. Manage report/dashboard folder architecture, sharing, and security (role hierarchy, sharing rules) to ensure the right data is visible to the right audience. Build and maintain custom formula fields, roll-up summaries, and (where needed) Apex/Flow-based aggregations to support reporting requirements not achievable natively. Leverage Salesforce reporting APIs (Analytics REST API) for embedding reports/dashboards in external portals or apps where required. Tableau Reporting Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards and visualizations sourced from Salesforce (via Salesforce connector, Tableau Sync/CDC, or ETL) and other enterprise systems (ERP, data warehouse, flat files). Build and optimize Tableau data sources/extracts, including data blending, joins, calculated fields, LODs (Level of Detail expressions), parameters, and table calculations. Design intuitive, performant dashboards following Tableau visualization best practices (appropriate chart types, filters/actions, drill-downs, tooltips, mobile layout). Manage Tableau Server/Cloud publishing, permissions, data source refresh schedules, and workbook version control. Optimize dashboard/query performance (extract vs. live connections, indexing, query optimization) for large datasets. Troubleshoot data discrepancies between Salesforce, Tableau, and other source systems, ensuring a single source of truth for key metrics.
Required Qualifications
5–8 years of overall Salesforce experience, with a strong focus on reporting and analytics (reports, dashboards, custom report types). 3+ years of hands-on Tableau development experience, including Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Tableau Cloud (publishing, permissions, scheduling). Deep expertise with Salesforce native reporting tools: joined reports, matrix reports, custom report types, bucket fields, dynamic dashboards, dashboard filters. Solid understanding of the Salesforce data model, object relationships, and security model (roles, profiles, sharing rules) as they relate to reporting visibility. Strong Tableau skills: calculated fields, LOD expressions, parameters, table calculations, data blending/joins, dashboard actions, and performance optimization. Experience connecting Tableau to Salesforce (native connector, Salesforce Sync/CDC, or via a data warehouse/ETL pipeline). Strong SQL skills for data validation, troubleshooting, and building/optimizing underlying data sources. Excellent stakeholder communication skills — able
