Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil/Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-op with an interest in traffic engineering and transportation planning to be based in our Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate will support a range of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and civil infrastructure projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on studies and designs for roadways, transit, active transportation, and municipal infrastructure. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to: Assist with traffic engineering and transportation planning studies, including traffic impact assessments, corridor studies, transportation master plans, transit studies, and multimodal transportation assessments Support traffic data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation, including traffic volumes, travel patterns, intersection operations, pedestrian and cycling activity, and other transportation datasets Assist with traffic operations and capacity analysis using industry-standard transportation analysis and modelling tools Support the development and evaluation of transportation concepts and improvement options for roadways, intersections, transit, pedestrian, and cycling facilities Assist with preparation of technical reports, memoranda, figures, presentations, and other project documentation Support transportation and municipal infrastructure design, including roadway geometry, intersection improvements, active transportation facilities, and traffic management measures Assist with design and drafting using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or similar software Support preparation and review of engineering drawings, plans, quantities, and technical documentation Assist with field investigations, site inspections, traffic observations, and documentation of existing transportation and infrastructure conditions Support data quality assurance / quality control and technical review procedures Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, planners, designers, and other technical disciplines on multidisciplinary transportation projects Qualifications Minimum Requirements Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related engineering program, and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
