Summary

Amazon is a highly data-driven company that is passionate about its customers. As our operations network grows across Fulfilment Centres, Sort Centres, IXDs, Return Centres, Last Mile Stations, Quick Commerce hubs and Micro Fulfilment Centres, automation is key to delivering orders on time, with quality, safely and at lower cost. The Innovation Lab at BLR8 is where new automation solutions, such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), automated packing equipment and internally developed tools, are piloted, tested and proven on a live floor before they scale across the network.

The Team

Lead is a hands-on role at the centre of every pilot. They run the trials themselves, keep the pilot area safe, collect the data that proves or disproves each solution, and turn what works into standard work that other sites can adopt. This role suits someone with strong operations floor experience who is curious about technology, works well without direct supervision, and can get engineering, vendor and site teams moving toward the same outcome without having authority over them. A day in the life **Job Deliverables:** - Pilot execution: - Run pilots on the floor to the agreed test plan, including operating and testing the equipment yourself - Set up pilot stations, material flow and test scenarios before each trial window - Flag deviations from the test plan, and equipment or process failures, the same day they happen - Safety in automation zones: - Enforce the safety controls for the pilot area - Carry out pre-trial safety checks and risk assessments for every new setup or process change - Report and investigate near-misses and incidents in the pilot area - Data and reporting: - Collect physical pilot data (time studies, cycle times, downtime and fault logs, exception counts) according to the Business Analyst's data plan - Check data accuracy at the end of each trial day and publish the daily pilot report - Keep a live issue log (equipment faults, process gaps, user feedback) and follow up with Engineering, Controls and vendors until each item is closed - Standard work and scale readiness: - Draft and update SOPs and Standard Job Instructions (SJIs) for each pilot as the process changes - Build training material and train site associates and teams on new equipment when a pilot moves to a live site - Capture floor learnings for the deployment package that goes with a solution when it scales to other sites - Conduct 4M and 5S audits on pilot workstations every day and keep the lab audit-ready for leadership and vendor visits - Coordinate vendor and engineering teams on the floor during installation, trials and troubleshooting windows - Work with site operations teams to schedule trials at their sites without disrupting their production - Deep-dive on pilot metrics and propose clear actions and process improvements - Stand in for the Ops Lead when needed
